KidsPoint began in 1984 as a small before- and after-school care program and has grown into a trusted early childhood education provider, serving over 200 children daily across KidsPoint Downtown and KidsPoint C Street. Our mission has always been to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

KidsPoint boasts a team of passionate, qualified professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds. Parent engagement is a priority, and we use Brightwheel, the #1 child care platform, to provide seamless communication, attendance tracking, messaging, and photos. Our School Age Program follows the 40 Developmental Assets® framework, helping children grow into caring, responsible, and confident individuals.
Beyond academics, KidsPoint encourages discovery through arts, sports, creative play, homework support, and large motor skill activities. All programs are licensed and regulated by Iowa’s Department of Human Services, ensuring the highest standards in safety, nutrition, and staffing. All teachers undergo thorough background checks, health screenings, and are trained in first aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting.

How do you support new student transitions?
We use gentle introductions, flexible drop-offs, and low-stress adaptation to help students settle in.
Do you provide daily updates to parents?
Yes – families receive notes, messages, and classroom highlights through our parent communication platform, BrightWheel.
What ages does KidsPoint serve?
KidsPoint serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years old in Early Childhood Programs and Kindergarten through 5th grade in School Age Kids care.
What curriculum does KidsPoint use?
KidsPoint uses Creative Curriculum®, a developmentally appropriate, multicultural curriculum. The program also incorporates Jolly Phonics and Second Step for literacy and social-emotional development.
What security measures are in place?
KidsPoint uses secure entry systems and visitor supervision procedures to ensure children’s safety.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes. KidsPoint accepts DHS Child Care Assistance and also offers a sliding fee scale for eligible families through United Way funding.
